For the Bread and Butter

Love here!
<3

Happy Friday! Ive never done a Friday post. With work sleep and alcohol consuming most of my Friday nights, this is one of the first times in months that Ive ever just been in bed. WOW. Its nice to be able to relax, and honestly have nothing to do for once. Aoow, hope your Friday is as pleasing as mines.

Today is May 21st, the birthday of one of the greatest rappers ever. Christopher George Latore Wallace aka The Notorious BIG aka BIG aka Biggie aka Frank White. He would have been 38 years old today. Any one that knows me knows that Big is my favorite rapper. For the whole month of March I made some of my favorite lyrics of his my status via facebook. I even watched his life story everyday from the day of his death until the end of March,a bit much I know.

Hip-Hop has changed a lot since his death, and I don't know if its been for the better. Although there are a lot of talented artist out there, I often wonder would they be around if Theee Notorious were still alive. A lot of artist only got hot, once he was gone.Where would Jay-Z and Nas' status be in the best rapper alive category? Would Jay Z be as accepted as he is today? Don't get me wrong, I have all of Jays albums, and often catch myself rapping along with him. But I do wonder if he just filled the huge void in rap that Biggie left.Would artist like Wakka Flakka Flame and Gucci Mane be played on the radio??? Would people even take them as serious as they do right now? Honestly, "BRRRRr?" WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT DUDE?

I'm not saying that Frank White was a genius, but he was very gifted. No one spitted hot fire like he did (shots out to Dy-lan), and to this day artist still use his lyrics.I think the greatest thing was his story telling abilities. I remember hearing Suicidal Thoughts as kid and really thinking he killed himself.

He was lyrically clever, and had an appeal about him. It was his charisma and hunger for what he did, that made me love him. He didn't have to look good, or have washboard abs to appeal to me. He was passionate, and you could hear it in his voice, with every rhyme. Being that me, personality, I am a passionate I can identify with him. Being a BK breed, I guess its in my blood to rep him to the utmost.

Even though I say all this about B I double G I E, who knows what he would be to this day. He could be retired; fed up with the game and all the Hhwackness that has taken over. He could be chilling with his wife and family producing like Dr.Dre in the cuttttt (ahem, Detox anybody?). Or he could be dominating the airwaves and leaving no space for mediocre rappers. Heaven only knows. What I do know is that he is truly missed.

Everybody listen to a Biggie song tonight, say your favorite line, and pour a lil liquor for The Notorious One. May he rest in peace.

Enjoy some videos of the late Frank White.

The live performance at Howard that they remade for the movie!

This performance also lmao! Look at DIDDY! HA!

AMIGOS!!!

Love here!

What a weekend! This month and for the next few weeks, is the time when college seniors graduate! Aaaaow! After four long years of debauchery, studying, flip flopping majors, flip cup, and conning teachers to pass you, ITS ALL OVER! Sad face! Let me stop. College was and will always be one of the best times of my life. I feel as though college is the place where you really learn who you are, who you could be, and who you do not want to be. You are placed among so many people and personalities that you are forced to find yourself. At least I was. I found I was extremely loud, rude, and kind of obnoxious. But thanks to the people around me who cared for me, I LEARNED that is what I was. No one in high school let me know how loud and crazy I could be. Sad. I know "You should know how you are, no one should have to tell you." True. But how do I know HOW I really am, if I think I'm ok, and someone doesn't? What I see as ok could be horrible to another person. I guess I just learned how and when to turn on and off certain traits. There are certain times for certain things, and there are certain times not for those things. Get it? (weird wording I know)

The biggest thing I got from my college experience was a group of friends who I found truly cared for me. They were like my family away from family at my home away from home. These people got me through a lot during my college years, and in my little head I truly thought we would be friends forever ::cue best friends forever song::. But remember that other thing from college you get, you know the whole growing into the person you want to be thing? Yea. A lot of the times that person is not the same naive, playful, sensitive person who started these friendships.

I guess it just hit me that me and my friends grew apart, and I would rather like anyone that we grew together. Unfortunately this is not the case, and this weekend really put that all into perspective for me.

On Saturday morning I drove with my friend to Atlanta from Maryland at 5 am. Why would I do such a thing after working a 40+ hour week?? All week I had been contemplating whether I should take that trek down to Atlanta, knowing that 20 out of my 48 hours would be spent driving. Although I hate to admit it Atlanta does have a little, itty, bitty, teeny, tiny, teentsy, weentsy piece of my heart. THE SMALLEST SLIVER. This ride was one of the longest rides I have ever had, I only slept for 2.5 hours and drove for 3, so for 5 hours I was just awake. You would think "Oh no, you are with your friend, you were fine!" No. Me and my "friend" of four years, who I use to talk to at least once a week, about everything, didn't even talk for a full hour. We grew apart. Its funny because we live in the same state, in the same city, within 5 minutes of each other. But for some reason on this ride we had nothing to say. I never realized that we grew apart, and this drive just solidified that for me.

Once I got to Atlanta, I called all of my friends who lived there and only got through to one...out of FIVE people. I was so upset at myself because I felt stranded, and my "friend" who I drove down with straight DITCHED me the moment we hit the Atlanta streets. Sad right? But funny nonetheless.

When I finally made it to a friends house, I was greeted so warmly.
"Bitch."
"What? Whats the matter?"
"Dont talk to me bietch. Go talk to your real friends"
"Are you serious?"
"Yes." BOLD FACE

Waow.I guess we grew apart too and I didn't even know it.I was hella excited to see this chick, and was greeted with profanity. Nice. Oh friendship.

I guess I couldn't be mad. I don't call her. But if someone who you care about doesn't call...wouldn't you call them... to make sure they were ok? Wouldn't you keep calling if you truly cared? How are you mad at me...when you are doing the same thing? Should I be mad at her? And I understand why she is mad. She felt that I didn't care for her anymore. And maybe I don't. Maybe she's right. Its a very harsh reality that I have to come to grips with. Maybe I don't care for her right now, but that doesn't mean I don't care at all. Friendships can be so complicated. I often wonder why.

Some people have a partner in crime. That one friend that when its time to be somewhere and do something they are there, ready for action, and they push through with you until the end.I love my partners in crime. This weekend one of my partners in crime and I did the most in the least amount of time. It was crazy! And we were exhausted by the end of it all. Somehow we went to barbecues, went clubbing, visited friends, attended two graduations, AND brunch, in less than 24 hours! I feel like it was a span of 12 hours. How do you do all that? Graduations are 5 hours on their own. I'm still wondering how we did that, and why I'm not asleep right now as I'm typing this. We may not talk everyday or even every week, but when its time for us to get together and some ish, we do it big. And I love her for that. Even though Ive grown apart from some friends, I wish that all my friendships could be like this. I wish that whenever we saw each other we could just fall back into our old ways, like we never left. I wish we didn't take the distance and the silence so close to heart. I wish we weren't so melodramatic, making mountains out of a molehill...or even an ant hills. But I guess that's who've we grown into.

Let me just say, I love my friends to death. Whether we talk everyday, or don't even speak anymore. I still love you. Once you are my friend, you are always my friend...unless you do something to cross me. Even then, I still love you out of the goodness of my heart because that's who I am. My feelings for people don't change over night, or even over years. They just don't.
